The wide variation of electrical requirements for individual countries. 3. I can’t possibly compete with big box stores on pricing so it would drive the cost of the light up for everyone or to keep costs down I would have to include a very low cost Chinese timer that would not be reliable. 4. Home automation is becoming very popular, affordable, programmable outlets that you control with your smartphone are taking over typical timers but not every customer wants or has the ability to have that type of timer. My bird spends most time in one cage, and that one has a timer. I also have a cage in my office and if I am stuck at my desk for long periods, I bring the bird through so he has company. No timer there, I just switch the socket on, and back off again when he goes back to the main cage.
