## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the connector a separate channel? Or do you just use the att connection? Ie is there an Ext that you need to switch to in a remote area of the hous**
A: When I view my extender, as a device, on the gateway It states I have 5Ghz. It says nothing about 2.4Ghz.
BUT, the device supports is a 2.4Ghz-only device, I am told.
I am running a bastardized network. My ATT BBGW320-500 is setup to "pass thru" to a TP-Link Mesh AX3000 Router. I renamed the ATT router to XXXX1 and the TP router is named the old ATT router SSID (XXXX6).
The ATT extender is located inside, by a Concrete block wall that has my Solar Panel Controller immediately behind it. The Solar Panel Controller is the only device showing-up as connected to the ATT Router. It still shows a very weak signal to-from the controller.
The remainder of my home devices (17) show-up on the TP-Link Router and send/receive very strong signals.

**Q: Does this have 3 ports, are they all PoE?**
A: 2 2gig ethernet ports

**Q: Can you use 2 of these for two levels in home connected to the latest ATT router on 3rd floor using a wireless connection?**
A: Yes, I have three of them. Two additional comments: 1) Use SmartHomeManager to find the weak spots in your home network and place them there and 2) do not overlap them too close together. Basically your devices (such as a phone) looks for and uses the strongest signal it can find. If you have two units too close together the devices will hop from one device to another because they both have strong signals and degrade, not improve your service. I had to move one for this very reason.

**Q: Does the extender still work with the router profiles and downtime settings?**
A: No. Mine was added as an extender (using the ATT SmartHome Ap) so it doesn't show up as a device that may associate to a profile (it provisions as Network Hardware). I also have the 4920. This doesnt show up as an extender once paired but it shows as a device so I may place it in a profile. The ATT app will setup the 4920 and then say failed but you will find it in the device list and it will extend your network. In all cases, i found it is best to run an ethernet cable to the extender to allow it to extend the network room to room (5Ghz coverage speeds drop rapidly for devices based on distance between sender/receiver and I didn't want to lose any channel space for the link between the gateway and the extender).

At first I thought these were junk but then I read more and placed them within 10 feet of each other (and rebooting devices so they will show up as connected to these extenders...and it all started working. I definitely prefer adding this version (model 4921) as an extender in the app as a hardware device because then I can see what devices connect to it.

I never was able to reliably use the two ports to connect to end devices. I kept seeing the wireless link between the extender and gateway would intermitently drop even when only 10ft appart. The computers didnt see it but it would create a lot of lag time. For me using one port on the extender to tie back to the network was the solution (like strings of Christmas lights).

I am still reading up on the ports on the back and what mode the extender has to be in to work...and if that works for me.

Don't forget to log into the extender and set the admin password.
