Review: Great product, even better customer support - I've ordered things off desertcart for over a decade and I don't think I've ever reviewed a single product until now. I ordered a Landzie spreader back in August in preparation for a lawn renovation project where I wanted something to top dress my new grass seed with peat moss. I ordered one which was towable because I have a zero turn mower and wanted to make lighter work of it. Well, my mower hitch is an oddly wide shape and unbeknownst to me while I was making my initial passes, my turns were causing the hitch to bend the hand grips on the handle downward. This bending deformed the fork for the hitch and made it so I could no longer reattach it to tow. I was dismayed, I wasn't sure if I'd done something wrong and I'd just broken my new spreader. I spread the rest of the peat moss on foot, which was harder to do pushing it around the lawn since the handles were now bent at an awkward angle. It spread extremely well, can't praise enough how well this laid out a uniform coating for my grass seed. On the one hand I was extremely happy with how it performed, but on the other I was troubled by the fact that I'd broken it while towing. I reached out to Landzie via their website and brought up the issues I'd experienced. I very quickly got a reply to my message asking if I could provide some images and go into detail, which I did. I was informed that a new handle would be shipped out to me free of charge and I received a phone call from the owner of the company to chat about the issue I'd experienced. He assured me that it wasn't my fault (I'd be perfectly willing to assume some responsibility as a newbie with this spreader) - the hand grips on the handle can detach (which I'll be doing in the future when towing) but most depictions on the Landzie site or in videos show it being towed with the hand grips still on. Andrew (the owner) admittedly had never had a need himself to detach them while towing because his hitch is a narrower shape that precludes the possibility of bending something that it's pulling. I'm not sure what Landzie's plans might be to prevent this in the future - it would probably suffice to have specific instructions noting that with oddly shaped hitches you should consider removing the hand grips so you don't damage them while turning...assuming we all read instructions thoroughly before using something, right? The solution to my problem is built in, I just didn't realize it would be a problem until after it was too late. We live in an era where it's very easy for companies to brush off things like customer service, and hide behind the mechanisms of the internet and other impersonal thing. Heck, half the time you order something online you're dealing with a monolithic organization, and any "support" you receive is buried underneath layers of chat bots or automated call center menus which lead to 45 minutes of elevator music and [ALL REPRESENTATIVES ARE CURRENTLY BUSY...] messages. I was impressed with a company of actual humans who responded promptly to my concerns and cared enough to give me a call and have a conversation about it. As I mentioned initially, the quality of this particular product is not in doubt. It did its job beautifully and my lawn renovation has been a success. When I was a kid I worked as a landscaper in the summers and fall for 7 seasons (9th grade through college), and I've top dressed my share of lawns with shovels and rakes. I would have killed to have something like this back then to turn hours of back breaking work on an acre lot into about 45 minutes breezing around the yard. It's an added bonus that not only are you getting a good product, but you're getting one that a small business is firmly standing behind and supporting. I know that sounds like a complete cliche that would usually make me groan and roll my eyes, but it's true and I would recommend this spreader and Landzie as a business any day of the week.
Review: Great product! - Work every penny. Easy to put together and super useful.

## Features

- ACHIEVE THE LAWN OF YOUR DREAMS: Landzie is your go-to source for a lush, professional looking green lawn this season. Our walk behind topdressing roller pampers and nurtures your grass, providing essential nutrients to plant, feed and weed for your lawn, flowers, plants, and gardens. Use for compost, peatmoss, topsoil, topdressing, manure, mulch, dirt, greenery and so much more. The lawn you've always desired is now only a click away
- PUSH OR TOW TO QUICKLY GET THE JOB DONE: The 36" mesh basket is equipped with diamond shaped 1/2" x 3/4" slits that allow for consistent and uniform distribution of topdressing material. It can be pushed as a walkbehind spreader or towed via a tractor or lawn mower. Our simple lawn food spreader is heat treated with a powder coated finish for protection against rust and corrosion. Lightweight material and comfort grip handles with a long clip-in pole handle make lawn care even more enjoyable
- SAVES MONEY AND TIME OVER TRADITIONAL METHODS: Stop spreading top dressing with a shovel and start using a Landzie! Our rotary trommel compost sifter tool evenly distributes peat moss and soil across your yard, drastically reducing waste and saving money on bulk purchases of peat moss or other materials. Traditional methods of spreading are inefficient and often lead to back strain, which can cost the user days or even weeks of work. Avoid delays and get the job done with a Landzie spreader
- BREAKS UP CLUMPY MATERIALS & SEPARATES WASTE: Drastically reduces the hassle and mess of spreading peat moss by separating larger chunks from granular material as it tumbles and stirs throughout the metal mesh screen cage drum. The hinge door swings open for easy filling. Double locking clasps secure the load, ensuring the basket stays closed during turning and tumbling operation. When spreading is complete, open the latch and remove excess material from the bin before refilling
- BUY WITH CONFIDENCE: The Landzie Guarantee - Here at Landzie, nothing comes before our customers. Since day 1, we've built our entire business with you, our customer, in mind. We guarantee 100% satisfaction for every purchase and will work rigorously to achieve that goal. Landzie products are designed to the highest standards in the industry, ensuring you are getting top-quality items at an affordable price. When purchasing from Landzie, rest assured knowing that we've got you covered

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this fit a full 2.2 cubic foot bag of peat moss?**
A: Great question! Technically, the spreader holds 2.7 cubic feet. However, those bags are packed tight! Once you start unloading the bag and it breaks up a bit, it expands. Realistically, you have to fill the spreader 1.5 - 2 times on aveage to use the entire 2.2 cubic foot bag. I hope this helps! Thank you!

**Q: I live in horse country Florida and composted horse manure is abundant. Would this be able to handle the “chunks” that are still in the compost?**
A: YES, I have used it to spread peat, compost & manure.
I added about a dozen baseball sized rocks to aid in breakup of materials, albeit helpful, that wasn't mandatory.

Manufacturer says, it leaves 1/8 inch of material, and I agree with that estimate. Want thicker spread, then use multiple passes for until thicker coverage meets desired coverage.

**Q: How much peat moss can this hold at a time? They sell large, 5.5 cubic foot bags where I live.**
A: My 24-inch wide Landzie spreader holds half a 3-cubic foot bag of peat moss, with enough headroom left to tumble the contents.

**Q: Could i use this to screen topsoil while applying it over new grass seed?**
A: Yes. I used it to apply compost to my entire yard. Sticks, etc. was left over.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful and necessary
*by D***T on December 5, 2025*

Although this only gets used once a year, it’s made well and improved over the years as I have seen from previous reviews. The handle is convertible to a tow hitch and for the size very necessary. I bought this to pull on my zero turn and have pushed it by hand in some smaller areas. It will handle more than I put in it but a combination of peat moss, top soil and grass seed, gets the job done in one pass. I used it in some bare areas as well as others. Works very well and lays down a nice even layer of anything you put in it. My yard is well over 120,000 sqft. I mow all of it but only need to work on some trouble spots. We really could have used more rain this year. Greetings from Culpeper, VA. I just hung it up today under my deck. Awesome!
