The common complaint about this blanket (sheds too much, smells) I encountered right away. There is however a simple remedy for the above problems: First: Wash the offending blanket on the gentle cycle with Woolite and put copious amounts of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. Wash it not once, but TWICE with white vinegar in the rinse cycle both times. With the 2nd washing, do an additional extra rinse and extra spin to get it as bone dry as possible. Second: Put it in the dryer with a couple of dryer sheets on the delicate cycle for 20 minutes. Check dryness, if not dry enough, do additional dryings at 10 minute increments, checking each time. Huzzah! Not only warm and soft, but less fluff and no more offending odor. Countary to what people may think, wool can be washed at home in the washing machine, you just have to proceed with caution.
