Review: I had tried a few different auger bits and the common problem was that they couldn't drill into the end grain of an oak log. This bit does it almost too well. I believe the reason it works so well is because the starter threads at the tip are longer than other bits I tried and they pull the bit right into the wood. I also like the 2 notches on either side of the cutting edge. I believe these prevent the bit from digging in to hard on either side and binding up which can be dangerous with a bit this size. Over all if you had a hard time finding a reliable auger bit that can cut end grain on hardwood, then your search is over.
