The drawback for me comes with the comfort and bulge there convenience comes at a price. These tend to dig into my hips when seated, I never had to worry about that with the straps, but these have got on my nerves after a work day, plus there is a noticeable bump where these attach - might not be noticeable to some, but definitely there - the dome shape might be what keeps the shirt from riding up, but it is visible.
