## Overview

The Aquila 10U Nylgut Tenor Ukulele String Set features a patented New Nylgut compound that outperforms traditional nylon and carbon strings by delivering superior sound quality, exceptional tuning stability, and enhanced durability. Made in Italy, these medium gauge strings absorb minimal moisture, ensuring consistent performance and a warm, gut-like tone ideal for tenor ukuleles.

## Description

The New Nylgut® is the first product developed and patented by Aquila. The New Nylgut® is nor common Nylon or Carbon (Fluocarbon fishing line or PVDF), or a mix of them. It is a plastic compound of three different components Compared to Nylon, the New Nylgut® produces a better sound and stays in tune better, this because the moisture absorption is less of .1% against the 2.0% of Nylon normally employed for the musical strings (i.e. Du Pont Tynex® polyammide 6-12). Due to the higher density, similar to that of pure gut (1.30 gr/cm3), the New Nylgut® produces a better sound than Nylon and it is not so metallic like those of the so- called ‘Carbon’ (Fluorocarbon) PVDF strings

Review: Nice strings, sweet chords - I have had great luck with these strings. Put them on an old Martin soprano uke that was too small for me to play with regular uke chords. The mandolin chords are much easier (most of them) on this short scale. Also I like the expanded range compared to the regular uke strings. And the chords sound sweeter. I wonder if some of the folks having problems with the string breakage are not using concert ukes which have a longer scale length. My soprano uke has a scale length of 13-3/4 inches. I am also planning on putting these on a concert uke but tuning them 3 half-steps lower (E B F# C#).
Review: Great string, get them! - Okay, so I bought these strings in hopes of trying to get the most out of my ukulele. I bought my uke in Hawaii and brought it back with me to my home on the mainland. The uke I picked sounded great already. However, I was just looking to try to get the MOST out of it that I could, if it was ever possible. I saw reviews for these and just impulsively bought them. When I got them, I realized they looked a lot like strings the uke came with. So, I looked up my uke and it turns out that my uke came with the Aquila strings. Well! I have to say, it's great having backup strings, at least. I haven't used the new strings yet, but I can say for sure that these are great sounding strings, they were the reason I chose the uke that I did while in HI. So, get them!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great string, get them!
*by C***E on June 11, 2014*

Okay, so I bought these strings in hopes of trying to get the most out of my ukulele. I bought my uke in Hawaii and brought it back with me to my home on the mainland. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ All but the E string
*by E***G on August 4, 2023*

Overall, the strings are terrific. The nylon-wound low G string has a great sound, with a nylon feel. So it's perfect. The D and A strings are great, too. The E string broke in a week (but it was a great week!) As others have mentioned, save yourself the trouble and buy 20 lb-test nylon monofilament fishing line. Fluorocarbon also works, apparently. It's stronger and doesn't stretch as much, but it's more expensive and harder to work. Or find the line I stumbled across: A nylon/fluorocarbon hybrid made by Yo-Zuri. It's supposed to combine the strength of fluorocarbon with the flexibilty of nylon (useful when tying knots). (It sounds good to me, so that's what I'm going with.) The other thing to know: It really is a GDAE set, but the package doesn't tell you string diameters. All it says is 1:RED (that's the thinnest, high E string) 2:BLUE (the A string) 3:GREEN (the D string) 4:WHITE (the nylon-wound G string, in a separate plastic sleeve) The red, blue, and green strings are colored at one end. The white string, if it's colored, is hard to see. But there is a small white label on the sleeve it comes in.
