I purchased this specifically for the Smart Braking Indicator feature and it functions as the manufacturer claims. As soon as you hit the brakes or slow suddenly the light goes from either blinking or steady to a super bright steady, “brake light”. When riders are following me they have mentioned to me that it really catches their attention, especially when the group is tight and their head is down while they are riding on my wheel. It's also been very reassuring to have on when I am commuting to work and there is heavy traffic around me and I suddenly need to hit the brakes for a car that's pulling out in front of me (as I'm "only" a cyclist right!!).The regular brightness is more than enough light as my cycling friends are opposed to riding behind anything brighter! I have also learned that anything brighter can actually have a negative effect on drivers. This seems to strike the right balance.The run time has been at least as claimed on the packaging and since I regularly ride in the rain while commuting, I’ve proven that it is water proof which is important given the location that gets blasted with water on a wet ride.I like the auto shut off as I will at times forget to switch it off after day time rides. Talking about day time rides…I always use it during the day. Daytime running lights enhance your margin of safety and the Smart Brake Indicator adds a level of safety during the day that is unmatched by any other product I have tried to date.With a couple hundred miles using this light so far, it appears to be a very well designed product. It was super easy to install and the quality for the money is excellent. Hard to look at.The difference between normal brightness and braking brightness could be more pronounced. If the normal brightness was reduced this would be great light.Mine seems to always have the low battery blink except right after being charged.
