I love the stand, but it has limits. You can't get it real close if you are using it sitting on a couch. **Q: Could the printer shelf possibly be installed higher, maybe under the height adjustment knob for the laptop tray?** A: The short answer is no... there’s a support bar (attached to the legs) that the printer tray sits on. The tray cannot support a printer while it’s free floating underneath the height adjustment knob. **Q: can the casters be purchased seperately?** A: No. The Manufacturer doesn't sell the casters separately. However, there are many casters in the market and it is very possible that casters of other brands might have the same dimensions and fit this product. **Q: will tis hold a 17 inch laptop desk?** A: My laptop is 15 inch, so I don't see why yours wouldn't fit.
