I followed the size chart exactly, 5'6 200 lbs size 14 usually. and I would say what it gave me was 2X And I felt like at that size it did a little bit of smoothing but that's kind of all it did. So personally I would size down. But as far as shape wear goes I thought it was really comfortable, I was able to wear it for like 12 hours without being uncomfortable at all.
