When the top strap latch is opened, you grab the barrel and hold it vertical cylinder down while you open the gun. The extractor will push all the cartridges out of the cylinder. When the gun is fully open, the extractor will reseat in the cylinder automatically and you're ready load another 6 rounds. The overall function of this gun is close enough to the original to allow for complete practice of the manual of arms but for one hammer movement that's required before opening the latch on the original. **Q: How do u load it?** A: You must buy "bullets" for this gun, and insert the bbs into the "bullets". They gun is a replica of the original Schofield model. It looks and feels good. I was short of disappointed that you can only fire 6 bbs at a time. I bought some extra bullets though so we could load more. **Q: Can the cartridges be reused?** A: Yes, just pop in a new BB and reload the cartridge in the gun. **Q: where do you get the pellet cartridges all answers say great pellet gun dont say where to get them c"mon guys get real** A: I bought an assortment of them right on Amazon.
