Works as hoped once some additional apps are installed
Overall, this device does exactly what I hoped it would do; but it did take some tinkering with additional applications to figure out how to get it to the end result I wanted.1) after selecting English, configuring wifi, went to 'system update'. current version was 1.0.0; check now and it said an update was available--I elected to install the update; got me to version 1.0.22) Thoughts on additional applications. The inkbook prime comes with a built-in app store "inkbook Store" of a few selected applications like Kindle, Kobo eBooks, Nook reading app, and a few others. It does not have Google Play store preinstalled; and although I suspect I could side-load the Google Play Store, my intentions for this device is primarily an e-reader of drm-free books on the sdcard. With that in mind, I looked to alternative installation methods; either side-loading or installing a different Android app store. At this time (about a week into owning the device); these are the installed applications I've selected. This may change in the future.2a) 1Mobile Market2b) FBreader2c) FBReader TTS+ Plugin2d) Flite TTS Engine2e) Additional, but not necessary to my e-reading goals for this device: DiskUsage, X-plore (File Manager)2f) Additional apps I may add are Dropbox, and the Kindle app. The inkbook Prime has a preinstalled application for drive.midiapolis.com, but I don't use that--I primary use Dropbox for that purpose. The Kindle app would be because for new ebooks, I primary purchase new releases from Amazon.3) Setting up Text to Speech/Testing (for English) 3a) Connect a Bluetooth Headset 3b) Install and Run the Flite TTS Engine, and download voices.4) Using Text To Speech 4a) Connect a Bluetooth Headset 4b) Using FBReader and the FBReader TTS+ Plugin, - Open a book - From the menu for FBReader, if the TTS+ plugin didn't autolaunch, select Speak+ from the ... menu on the right. - Under "Change Voice or Language" - "use our Voice Manager" - Confirm the voice selection, "use selected voice"End result(s): As a ereader; I can use the built-in reading application, and the physical buttons for page forward/back can be used. If I'm actively reading the device; I prefer physical buttons--which this device has. It is also touch screen, and has a built-in light, which were other requirements for me. For me, the flush bezel was not a requirement, but is nice. As a TTS device--which I've been looking for something similar to a Kindle Keyboard 3; the last model of Kindle which allowed relatively easy TTS (but doesn't have a lit screen)--it works just OK. My drawbacks with it as a TTS device is purely personal--I prefer the Ivona voices, but I just couldn't get the Ivona to install successfully--I suspect because this device isn't meant to support TTS. The Flite TTS Engine is the app which allows for TTS to occur; and I'm just used to the Ivona voices available on my smartphone. So that reason is purely personal, and my own failing. The fact that this device allows for TTS via Bluetooth at all is a big plus for me. I suspect I'll get used to the voices in time.Things I'm still missing:- a Case at all--as a relatively newly available device; and I just plain haven't found any cases specifically for this device yet.

Lovely eReader with buttons
I've only had this eReader a couple if days,, but so far I love it. It's replacing my 2 year old paperwhite and I don't miss the paperwhite at all. I also bought an onyx boox t68 a few years ago an android so I am somewhat familiar with Android based eink eReaders. I havent had any problems yet. It was easy to drop ebooks, music, and asks on the internal memory. The good eReader store is a nice place to get apps for it. Mobileread forums are another good resource. I'm currently using phonograph to listen to music via my lg tone 750 bluetooth headphone. The only way to access the audio is the bluetooth headphones.I do wish the default reader had more adjustable settings. I also wish the lowest brightness setting was lower. There's still a fair amount of brightness with it turned all the way down.

but installed just fine with the 3 "management" apps I listed above
I have had a chance to put this ereader through its paces now - here are my impressions:It is a flexible device if you do the following: I installed the Amazon app store, Es File Explorer and Dropbox on it. Through these you can do everything you need. The Kindle, Kobo and Nook apps in the Inkbook app store didn't behave for well for me, but installed just fine with the 3 "management" apps I listed above. I also installed Moonreader +, a notepad app, Overdrive and Music Player and still have plenty of device storage available. The on board reader app works, but I prefer Moonreader. The quad core processor makes a difference as compared to a dual core open source ereader, but the Prime is not quite as quick and smooth as a Kindle Paperwhite. The browser works, but is not a satisfying experience, partially due to the fact that wifi drops for no apparent reason occasionally. This is not too annoying for me, as I load my books to a 32 GB SD card via direct PC connection, and, it's an ereader. The biggest drawback on the Prime is the ghosting, requiring the need to manually refresh (at least when using Moonreader, as the customizable refresh settings don't seem to work with it). The physical page turn buttons are a plus for me and they even work with the Kindle app if you set the button options on the Prime to volume up/down. I hacked a kindle 8th gen cover (I did cutouts for the physical buttons and the power button) - at this time I'm not aware of an a available fitted cover for it. Battery life isn't great, but part of that might be because it's running Android. In all, if you want a device that can handle just about any ebook format out there this one does the job quite well. The WiFi and ghosting issues, plus the lack of a cover for it cost the Prime 1 star, but it really should have received 4.5 stars from me.

Worse ereader I've ever owed
Worse ereader I've ever owed. Some ebooks won't open, and I was told due to the publishers epub formatting. This is strange since my kobo had no problems with the same ebooks. It crashes many times for no reason at times. Apps really do not work. They tend to crash. Now the ereader will not charge. It ran hot, then the screen became dissorted. I charged it, even though it was fully charged earlier, but it doesn't keep its charge for "weeks".I wouldn't, I'm using my moto turbo charger, and it's charging. This means their supplied charger is useless. I will never buy this brand again. I rarely use it because of its flaws. Totally unreliable.

Bin begeistert 😍
