I love this butter keeper. Butter stays fresh at room temperature for a long time. The design provides a water seal which keeps air from the butter. I've had butter stored in this on the counter at room temperature for two weeks without turning rancid. (Butter just doesn't last longer than that at my house?) Butter can be kept fresh longer if the water is occasionally discarded and replaced with cool water.It is so easy to use. Just let the stick or chunk of butter soften. Put it in the top cup of the butter keeper and press butter into cup to remove any big air pockets. Add a little cool water to the bottom cup (enough that it reaches the rim of the top (butter) cup when it is inverted into the bottom (water) cup.I recommend having two of these butter keepers. It would be a shame to become used to having soft butter and discover that you ran out as you were ready to use it, and all you have on hand is rock-hard butter that is difficult to use.These butter keepers have become very popular, so there are many different ones available. I like this particular design. It is slightly oversized, so holds a bit more butter, and it comes in many pretty colors, so it is easy to find one that works with any decor. Most hold exactly 1/4 pound or 1 stick of butter. This one is slightly oversized, so holds a bit more. When you run low on soft butter, just fill the other container with a fresh stick of butter, then scrape the remaining butter from the original container on top of the butter in the second one. This oversized container will hold that extra butter and the oldest butter kets used first.I like mine so much that I have given many of these butter keepers as gifts. They have never failed to please the recipient.

This butter crock is really nice. It works like it should and was packaged nicely so no worries about it breaking. The grey is exactly as pictured. Very pleased.

Very solid and well designed and price is much better than the competition. Lid holds a stick of butter. There is a water fill line so you know how much to fill it. It works - the butter doesn't get rancid after sitting out for a few days, but I have to admit that we've started using so much butter lately due to how nice and spreadable it is, lol, I'm not sure that we've really put it to a truly rigorous test.

Maybe I didn't use it correctly but the butter was never super soft to spread and after a week all the butter fell out and was laying in the water all night. I'm going to try it again and see how it goes. Super cute on the counter.

Bought this for my Granddaughter and she loves it

When I first put the soften butter in the bell, the butter fell into the water when I opened up the top. When I put it in the 2nd time, I made sure I pat down the butter, so it doesn't have too much air pockets and now it works great. My family loves it because we don't have to wait for the butter to soften before using. Make sure you change out the water at least every 3 days. I love it.

Keeps butter perfectly, packed extremely well, Very attractive and I like the fact there is a waterline. I have had several butter keepers throughout the years and I like this one the best. Reason is that it seems to be a little heavier than the others and has the water line showing inside it so no approximations. Everything is great including the price. If you are looking for a replacement or trying one for the first time....buy this. Can not beat it...price and all.

I'm justing passing on my experience along. Being single and not using soft butter every day, I believe this is the source of my problem with the butter keeper, even though I was changing the water daily using cold, adding a little salt to the water like the product instructions stated, my butter after several weeks was turning moldy and rancid. This has happened more than once since I bought it.
