The waist is very tight, but probably due to my belly--which has never recovered from having children. But they feel so good when you take them off. They do help my legs, which are sometimes a problem when I'm walking around the stores, they get achy and tired quickly. But the leggings are good for that, they keep my legs feeling like they could walk several times around the store! So, I recommend these for people with varicose veins or trouble with stomach overhang.
