The blade is done properly with a softer metal between two hard outer layers allowing for a very sharp edge. The blade looks good and for its size very heavy. My only problem was the size. As you can see in the pictures with my hand and a normal size computer mouse it is a pocket knife. Larger than most pocket knives but nothing you really want to carry on your belt around your waist. I'm only trying to be honest about this product and not criticizing. I actually love it even though it's too small for my hand. So much so I bought two of them and gave one to my son. It's well made and well worth the money. If you buy this I doubt you will send it back unless your unlucky enough to get a bad product like we do sometimes. The look and quality are worth the money alone and outweigh the smaller size. I expected a lots less quality. You know how it is. It doesn't seem like a knife of this size can possible weigh 8.8 ounces** A: On my kitchen scale: Knife = 4.4 oz Knife & Sheath = 6.1 oz **Q: is the sheath made to be mounted horizontal? i'd like to put it on my back with my belt.** A: Either way - the leather straps around the front of the knife , follow to the back and is cut so that on the back it's open and runs the length of the sheath also, stiched on one side of the sheath only. You can run a belt under/through it after working it a bit ~it's pretty tight but open. Although he hasn’t received it yet I know he will love it. Originally we looked at Etsy for a knife. Reviews weren’t great so I decided to buy this instead. I felt like I was taking a chance bc I didn’t tell my daughter I opted to go with a different knife. I’m so happy I did. My husband agreed that it was a super great quality knife and he would even like one. It’s sharp and has some weight to the knife. The knife sheath is so good. I love everything about guys knife. I would ignore the reviews that say this is cheap. 95% of people agreed this was a fantastic knife. You won’t regret it. I took pics of every angle and aspect of this knife to help. I am a female but I do not have small hands. I do not think this knife is considered small ever so ever. My favorite part is the decorative markings and the weight of this knife.
