They are very durable, and are standing up to daily wear. In the past I have had to resole my Blundstones, because of uneven wear at a cost of $130, and I quickly wore out the new soles unevenly. My boots were starting to get an odd twist, and a change of shape from uneven wear. As soon as I put them on my boots, they untwisted, and regained their shape. As my boots wore out, my feet would start hurting, when I put the heel plates on, my feet stoped hurting. I highly recommend this product. I used Shoe-goo, and the nails to fasten the plates, but recommend super glue on the nails as well. I lost 1 of the nails, but the plate is staying on just fine with only 2. The material seems to be too soft for the purpose. Company was nice to give me a refund, but mine only lasted a few days of use. **Q: are they black in color ?** A: Yes, they're black. **Q: will the 3 nails affect TSA screening (metal detectors) at airports?** A: Absolutely not. The deeper issue with these sole protectors is the tiny nail size that comes with the kit. The Chinese who fabricate these kits scrimp on both the mail size and poor adhesion of the pad to the sole. I had to find larger brads and use some fast- drying super glue to insure the pads would not come off after the first week of using the re-padded shoes.
