The bucket is made of metal and it is pretty powerful for a toy, I was able to dig out some weeds in my garden with it. Definitely a fun toy for kids and adults alike that are interested in excavators. The battery lasts way more than I expected it, I was able to play with it several days for long periods of time without recharging. The body is made of plastic but it seems well made and durable. No assembly required. This is a great way to start understanding the way a real excavator controls work!
