No wobble, no slow sinking over time like my old one. My wife comes into my office and i'm not worried to have her hop onto my lap. That said, I made the mistake of not measuring beforehand. I was using this on a Lazyboy executive chair, and the new lift was taller than expected. Now my knees bump into the underside of the desk, which was on me for not double-checking specs. I’ve since ordered a shorter one, but I’m saving this for another chair because the quality is excellent. If you need a tall, heavy-duty gas lift and have the space for it, this is a solid choice. Just be sure to measure your setup first!
Review: Good and easy fix for your chair - Worked well without any crazy tools, basically I was able to use a metal hammer to remove both pieces of the piston before reinstalling the new one. The first thing you do is go ahead and lay the chair down to have access to the underside of the feet, then with your hammer you would need to take a series of firm hits to the bottom of the broken cylinder that will eventually free it from the base. Once you remove the cylinder from the base there's a chance that the actual piston that's connected to the bottom of the chair will still be attached, from there you would hit the piston from the side with a downward force and then the underside with the upward force and that will loosen the friction lock and it will pull right out. Once you get that to reinstall the new piston is easy drop the bottom into the wheel section of the chair pull off the access cap for the piston and put your old chair back on the new piston and carefully sit on the chair and you have created the friction lock and it is ready to go. I have the GT racing Ace chair series and this cylinder worked great, it gave me extra height but will adjust to the lowest position if needed and I wouldn't worry about colors because if you reuse the cylinder cover then you won't see if you purchased a silver or black piston so save yourself a couple bucks.

A: No, there is not a removal kit included.  I would recommend watching the video on the product page, a 'how-to' remove and replace existing cylinder.  I used a regular hammer and not a short-handled sledge hammer like featured in the video and did not have any issues.

**Q: the base of my chair is 45mm, not 50mm. Do you make a tube that will fit my chair?**
A: I don’t work for the company. I’ve bought and am familiar with the products but have not run across that.

This replacement cylinder is a beast—strong, sturdy, and a great value for the price. It was easy to install and instantly made my chair feel more solid and secure. Worked well without any crazy tools, basically I was able to use a metal hammer to remove both pieces of the piston before reinstalling the new one. The first thing you do is go ahead and lay the chair down to have access to the underside of the feet, then with your hammer you would need to take a series of firm hits to the bottom of the broken cylinder that will eventually free it from the base. Once you remove the cylinder from the base there's a chance that the actual piston that's connected to the bottom of the chair will still be attached, from there you would hit the piston from the side with a downward force and then the underside with the upward force and that will loosen the friction lock and it will pull right out. Once you get that to reinstall the new piston is easy drop the bottom into the wheel section of the chair pull off the access cap for the piston and put your old chair back on the new piston and carefully sit on the chair and you have created the friction lock and it is ready to go. Another product I wish I had known about 15 years (and 2+ chairs ago). Thanks to Gemini (AI) for helping me figure out what this part was called, so I could find it on Amazon. Most new chair cylinders give out after 5 for me. I bought this heavy duty one and it fit (easy assemble) and worked flawlessly. Will rereview if it doesn't hold. I'm also glad it saved me from throwing an otherwise good Staples chair in the landfill. Felt like a double win.
