For example grit: 36 to debrutter, 220 400 and 600 to continue, 1000 to pre-polish, Cerium oxide or alumina to polish. 5 days for each phase. Good day. **Q: Why doesn't this tell you what size grit each step is?** A: I guess they assume. Large grit will be coarse, fine will be polish. **Q: Can I use these with stainless steel shot instead of the plastic pellets?** A: No. I wouldn't try that. The reason for the plastic pellets is to help cushion the rocks and keep them from breaking and chipping. I would think that metal, even though it's smooth shot, would be too hard on the rocks. **Q: How many rocks can fit in it?** A: Hello; Obviously the number of rocks depends upon their size. That being said, I routinely tumble anywhere from 3/4 cup to 1-1/2 cups of rocks. In my experience , it will handle more smaller (large pea sized) rocks then bigger rocks. I’ve not run into a problem with these quantities and I believe I could do even more but the entire process of tumbling/polishing will always take longer with bigger stones. I do recommend using a ceramic filler when tumbling. See under polishing rocks in tumbler. Hope this helps.
