Because I consider myself fairly handy and can assemble almost anything, I decided to give it a try. The instructions say that they recommend two people, and I would highly second that. Without going into detail, I will just say that after 3 failed attempts & having to take the entire project apart on 3 separate occasions to start all over again, I am happy with the end result. Overall, I spent approximately 8 painstaking hours putting this together, & probably should have just paid my handyman. The instructions are not exactly clear, and the worst part was trying to fit the top on at the end. It is extremely heavy and not all of the pegs and the screws line up perfectly. I ended up purchasing a rubber mallet, put a sock over it to prevent scratching the beautiful wood top, and basically beat the top down into place. By the end of this project, I was in tears and almost gave up, but glad I persevered. Unless you are a try handyman, please use caution before you decide to tackle this by yourself like I did. Review: Manufacturer’s holes in wrong place!UPDATE!!! - Received the island today. It is a very heavy piece of furniture. Thank you Cymax. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful Furniture *by C***R on May 28, 2023* Overall, I'm thrilled with the finished product and the value. I got two counter height white stools to tuck into the back, and it's a perfect set. The finish is lovely and durable, clearly good quality. The piece is very heavy and solid, with no hint of shakiness or loose connections. The assembly was pretty straight forward, and the instructions were better than I expected, BUT I did have one piece arrive with two of the holes undrilled. These weren't the kind of easy through-and- through holes that can simply be made for yourself with a drill, but two wide shallow holes meant to seat a locking cam piece. They had to be pretty specific to work. Thankfully, I have a friend who was able to create these holes for me using a grinding tool, so I didn't have to cope with the headache of returning and exchanging this huge, heavy package. I'm not sure what I'd have done about it if I hadn't had his help! If every piece had been perfectly produced, rather than every piece except one, this would easily have been a five star purchase.
