It’s basically a multitool for the soil—great for digging, cutting, planting bulbs, dividing perennials, and sawing through stubborn roots. The stainless steel blade is thick and full-tang, which gives it strength for prying without bending. One side is a straight edge, the other serrated, so you can dig or saw as needed. I really like the little details. The blade has depth markings for planting, and the handle feels solid with a protective guard to keep your hand from slipping. The included leather sheath is sturdy enough to clip onto a belt, and the sharpening rod is a thoughtful bonus for keeping the edge in good shape. It’s sharp right out of the box—sharp enough to cut through roots cleanly and even slice open bags of soil or mulch without struggle. After extended use, I’ve found the only things to watch for are the handle finish (a few buyers sanded it smoother themselves) and keeping track of the knife in the yard, since the darker wood handle can blend into leaves or soil. I added a bright cord through the lanyard hole so it’s easier to spot. At this price, it feels like a bargain compared to some of the higher-end hori hori knives, but it still delivers excellent quality and durability. I think this is amazing for the price great for digging cutting until it gets dull of course but I was very pleased. I feel better having this on my hip with coyotes around.
