About 4 inches of snow. It's great. Works best if you can run a bit with it and then lower the handle to toss the snow. I have a long driveway and hated shoveling b/c by the end my back would be hurting. There is definitely a Technique when throwing the snow off to the side. At first you're throwing the snow straight up in the air and it was annoying. Then after 15 minutes of getting the hang of it, it works quite well. It's faster than the original shoveling. picks up 6" of snow without much effort. Better used with fluffy snow rather than wet snow (compacted snow). Assembly was Simple, the pictures were a way better explanation than the words. Kind of excited for another run with the snow for me to use this Unit.
