Your condenser works by pulling air through the coils all around and out the top by the fan to remove heat before being condensed and cooled down before being transfered to the evaporator coil in the air handler where air is pulled from inside the house and through the evap coil with chilled refrigerate. The refrigerate warms up and transfers back to the condenser coil to be cooled back down. Heat pumps use the same process, but in reverse. I'm certified to work on hvac units and saying don't cover the fan or sides. Don't plant anything close, don't build a fence or wall to close around, and don't put anything over it. It blows my mind that this product exist. The screen is fine. Thats what I looking at. To people saying they don't want to get water in thier units. They're built for weather. I spray all my coils with coil clean and rinse them with water. I just hose out the condenser unit. Kill the power first. If you can't find the breakers or fuses in my old house, just kill the breakers on the on the air handler and the disconnect leading to the condenser. Once you turn everthing on it takes mine aleast 30mins to reset with the thermostat. Some kind of added safety. If it never restarts after an hour or so check for a blown fuse on the air handler control board. Usually just a automotive type fuse. **Q: Does the velcro tabs wear out over time? If so can just the top cover be replaced?** A: Dear customer, the velcro tabs definitely will wear out over time, but this will not happen in short time. The top cover is a non-replaceable design. If this happens, you can fix it yourself or contact us again for a solution. **Q: how does the waterproof top attach to the mesh cover?** A: Dear customer, the top of mesh cover and waterproof top have a total of 8 Velcro for easy installation and removal when needed, thank you. **Q: How fine is the mesh? As fine as a window screen?** A: Not as fine as window screens but close. Small enough to catch cottonwood fibers and other airborne matter. I usually go out and used a shoe brush to wipe down the sides to get any debris off. Then I start at the top with a spray hose almost parallel to the screen and work my way down to wash any collected dust off.
