I took his measurements and matched them up with the size chart and ordered him a Large. I was pleasantly surprised that it is a perfect fit.....not snug but not too loose.....just right. I think the size chart for this is right on.The inside is soft and warm, and the outside is waterproof and quilted. The zipper is easy to zip. I love the buckle/latch at the top for extra security, and the two rings to attach his leash. In this picture I didn't have it zipped all the way because I was worried it would be too snug, but later I zipped it all the way and it wasn't too snug at all. You can also adjust the snugness of the neck.So why did I chose to purchase this Winter coat for my furbaby? He had a wonderful coat from a sporting goods store, but it velcroed together on the belly side. Because of that it would snag on things and come undone. Last week he was playing in the yard (3 acres) in the snow and came back without his coat. I knew it was time find something that would stay on. When I saw this coat that was not only good looking and warm, but ZIPPED up the BACK, I knew it was going to be perfect! I don't have to worry about this coming off him while he is out playing in the snow. And the buckle was an added bonus for keeping it secure. But another bonus was the rings to attach his leash too. His other coat did not have that and required that he wear a collar for his leash.....and he doesn't wear a collar, he wears a harness. Another big plus is that it comes in blaze orange. We like to walk slowly in the New England woods. This jacket gets five stars for both comfort and color/safety. Quality is good, one side is thick diamond quilting, wind and water resistant material, and the other side is grey polar fleece. You can draw the neck hole tighter, if you want, I have not tried, but nice feature if you were actually hunting with your dog in the cold.A month of use later and this coat is better than I first understood. The diamond quilting keeps the jacket from ripping and the water resistant material works really well for drizzle. There is a learning curve for the dog as far as getting into the jacket, takes about a week for them to get the hang of putting on the coat. We have had one pretty cold night and my old fellow wore it to sleep.
