There's potential to make one mistake - DO NOT go in reverse, it will unscrew itself and you'll have a brush stuck in your venting. Always forward, even when pulling it out. It was easy to use and can be stored until it's needed again. We have paid much more than this for duct cleaning in the past. Money well spent. What's the difference?** A: Buy both and find out **Q: Can this be used to clean HVAC ducts?** A: Possibly, but the rotating head is sized for dryer duct. Also the connecting rods are very flexible which would also make it difficult. Probably not the best solution. **Q: What do you do with the black dryer adapter it has a grate inside does that stop lint or brush from going back into dryer?** A: I did not use the "black dryer adapter" when I cleaned out my dryer duct. The "black dryer adapter" attaches to the exhaust vent port on the back of the dryer. I think the "black dryer adapter" is meant to prevent the vent brush from going into the dryer. I attached the "black vacuum cleaner adapter" to the end of the dryer vent duct located on the outside of the house, and then attached my shop vac to the "black vacuum cleaner adapter". Then I fed a flexible rod through the "black vacuum cleaner adapter" and attached one end of the flexible rod assembly to my electric drill and attached the other end of the flexible rod to the large brush I turned on the shop vac and then I SLOWLY pushed the large brush and rod assembly through the dryer duct with the drill spinning at a slow speed. I added additional sections of flexible rods as needed, pushed the large brush and flexible rod assembly in through the dryer vent duct until it stopped, and slowly withdrew the assembly from the dryer vent duct. The shop vac was on the entire time I had the brush and rod assembly in the vent duct. That was it; the duct was cleaned and I had enough dryer lint and dust to half-fill a gallon paint can. **Q: Can you use this on hvac system?** A: I’m assuming you’re thinking about cleaning the ductwork of your HVAC? If so, I think the diameter of the brush would be too small. It would knock some debris around but I doubt it would effectively clean the entire thing. For the price point that shouldn't be a surprise. That said it does a wonderful job of cleaning dryer duct vents and lines. There is no complaint about its functionality. Negatives: cheap gloves, thin plastic bags, dryer vent cleaning brush the hooks and the instructions are minimal at best. Positives: rods, rod brush head, the part that you attach to the vent for your drill, the blue hose that attaches to a vacuum cleaner for clean the vent trap in your dryer, the bag for the rods, and yes, even the laundry bag which makes a great storage bag for the various pieces. Do's and don'ts: Do use the black tape that comes with it and wrap it around each section where the rods join together. This will help prevent the rods from coming lose in the dryer duct work. While they tighten perfectly, they will come lose if you do not rotate the brush head as instructed. The black tape comes off easily for storage purposes. Would we recommend this product?
