A: Because it’s a piece of crap.  These are garbage.  I had 4.  Yes FOUR that did not work

A: hello, if you have a lbs/kg version you would press and hold the BMI button down 
for 10 seconds to switch it from lbs to kg and back again.

I would have given the SECA 777 a five star, however the item was incomplete. The display head is supposed to have two fasteners into which screws are inserted in order to secure the display head to the column. These were missing on my unit, so I had to insert the screws and cover them with tape in order to secure the display head to the column. A minor disappointment. I recommend this unit for it's sturdiness and accuracy.
