The only potential issue with it is that there is no automatic shut-off feature. If you are forgetful and tend to leave your straightener plugged in, take caution! I am lucky I have roommates that will unplug this when I forget it. I have left it on (accidentally) for quite some time before and nothing happened, but if you rely on the auto-shut-off feature, that might be a deal breaker for you. I guess also there is no means of adjusting the heat, but I've found the heat is sufficient to straighten (and even curl) my hair.
