I anchor mine with a nylon rope to a chair near the edge of one end of my pool to keep them from the skimmer. They are very effective keeping my pool near 80 during the summer, I did not have to use any heat all season last year. Downside is they do collect dirt falling from the sky which may not be a problem depending.
