Review: I'm not sure if anyone else buys these for making bourbon, but I did. They are perfectly sized white oak sticks for aging bourbon in quart sized mason jars. I use a combination of toasting and charring them (my secret recipe) before starting the aging process. I typically split the sticks into at least half (so one stick becomes two), and I split off any bark. The smell and flavor that these produce is amazing, and everyone is a huge fan of my bourbon. One box has lasted me a very long time and has made a lot of bourbon. I couldn't be happier with this result and am thankful for the quality of sticks that this company produces.

**Q: can these be used for grilling and would it make sense to do so?**
A: Thanks for your inquiry. Our white oak pizza splits will do a fine job grilling as long as the grill is not very large.. For example, a ceramic grills, Webers and smaller wood fired grills you will get very nice results. You may even want to add some of our chunks on the side of the coals to get an added flavor on your meat. I love white oak with hickory added. A: Yes, these are perfect for the Ooni Karu.

**Q: Do these pop & spark? want to use on our deck.**
A: they will be fine, they did not pop or spark when I used them

**Q: Can you use this type of wood for smoking meat also?**
A: Sure, this White Oak product will give a great aroma, but we’re wondering why you wouldn’t want to use our Carolina Cookwood Smoking Chunks for that purpose. They are larger and are meant for smoking vs. burning. These Pizza Splits are best used for producing a consistent high heat while burning for baking ovens.

I'm not sure if anyone else buys these for making bourbon, but I did. They are perfectly sized white oak sticks for aging bourbon in quart sized mason jars. I use a combination of toasting and charring them (my secret recipe) before starting the aging process. I typically split the sticks into at least half (so one stick becomes two), and I split off any bark. The smell and flavor that these produce is amazing, and everyone is a huge fan of my bourbon. One box has lasted me a very long time and has made a lot of bourbon. I couldn't be happier with this result and am thankful for the quality of sticks that this company produces.

These logs work well but are too small and therefore too expensive for the OONI Karu 16 when used alone. Unless you are relatively quick on the prep or use them with charcoal, alone these logs will burn too quickly causing you to use a lot of them. They function well but the Karu 16 needs larger logs which will not burn up as fast. OONI sells 8-inch logs for this size oven.
