The glass was a bit thinner than I was expecting, but that's not a negative. I keep dropping the bottom saucer a few inches and it hasn't broken, so that's nice (though I don't recommend doing that). The big issue is that it gets hot, which I knew buying this. I used it today for a black tea, so just under boiling water, and it burned to hold it, whereas I have no issues with the porcelain ones (and have been told I have asbestos hands since I can hold anywhere on a porcelain gaiwan with just under boiling water).
