Review: 40+ Years of Using Cuisinart and Still a Very Happy Customer --- Very Well Made Cookware - My cookware purchases have varied greatly over the course of more than half a century. As a young person with little money to spend, my first few pieces of cookware were those lightweight, thin, enamelled pieces. The kind the coffeepot was made out of the Gunsmoke telly programme. I am not sure if the metal was tin or what, but they were very cheap and not very good. They did not last long. They were not good for cooking, and they started to fall apart pretty early on. Lesson learnt. Next, I was gifted a set of club aluminium cookware. These pots were much heavier. They lasted me a few years. They were not easy to clean, though, and I discovered that adding salt to boiling water to boil pasta, for example, soon ate holes in the bottom of the pots. I was still a cookware novice, though, and I was not sure what other options there were. I married during the time I had the club aluminium set, and my spouse had a few non-stick, Teflon coated pans. I really liked those. They were lightweight, washed up easily, and food cooked reasonably well in them. The downside of course was that the Teflon eventually began to flake off. By the early 1990s, I moved on to a set of Cuisinart cookware that had a piece of of copper clad metal welded onto the bottom. I still have three pieces from that set, and I use them weekly! However, I let the tiny 1 qt pot boil dry one day, and the welded on piece literally fell off. I had to throw the pot away. A few years ago I discovered the best of the best in terms of quality and service: Le Creuset enamelled coated cast iron. Folks, you simply cannot go wrong with Le Creuset. They are very expensive, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. The Le Creuset is such high quality that if you care for them properly, you literally can pass them them down to succeeding generations. I LOVE my Le Creuset and wish I had known about the brand by the time I married. I would have begun to slowly build a collection. Now, I have two French ovens and a brasier. Cast iron is the most wonderful material for cooking, and since these are enamelled coated, I never have to worry about seasoning them. The downside to the Le Creuset is not only that they are very expensive pieces (albeit it totally worth it!!!), but they are also heavy to handle especially as I have grown older and lost a lot of strength in my hands, arms, and shoulders. However, I would never stop using them as long as I am physically able. Le Creuset is the best. Now, having taken you on this journey of my cookware experience, we finally come to these Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Triple Ply pieces. For almost 40 years I have been using the 2 qt and the 2.75 qt in the classic style I told you about earlier with the welded on bottoms, but I really wanted a smaller size for boiling eggs or making a bit of cream of wheat for example. I do not want to drag out a piece of heavy Le Creuset for these things, so I ordered this Triple Ply saucepan in the 1.5 qt. size, and I must say, I am IMPRESSED. It is not super heavy, but it is heavy enough in the hand to make you realise it is very sturdy and well made. I am so glad I bought this pot. Cuisinart has been a great go to for almost 40 years, and they are still making some of the best medium priced cookware in the business. If you are considering trying some of these Triple Ply pots, do not hesitate. I think you will be well pleased, and I suspect if you take care of these pots, they will also last for decades. Mind you, the best investment quality cookware in my opinion is still Le Creuset, but you cannot go wrong with these Cuisinart pots. Follow the directions for using and cleaning them, and they will serve you well. Good luck in your culinary adventures! NB Just thought I would mention one other thing. In the '80s I was doing a lot of pretty serious cooking, and so I purchased some specialty pots, e.g. a double boiler and several sizes of what might be called Dutch ovens and stock pots by maker Farberware. The Farberware pieces served me well for things like seafood gumbo, shrimp creole, and a variety of stocks. There is nothing wrong with Farberware, but I believe these Cuisinart pots are much better, and of course, the best of the best for me will be Le Creuset always. Staub is also considered a very good brand similar to Le Creuset, but Le Creuset has appealed to me more than Staub, but do not discount Staub if you find pieces you need for an excellent price.
Review: Good saucepan in a handy size - I'm more than pleased with this triple-ply 1.5 qt saucepan so far and I'm glad I found it. I've boiled water in it (see below), used it once to reheat food including sticky cheese, and washed it in the dishwasher. It still looks new and I don't anticipate any problems with it. The bottom is flat and fits my smaller size 6" burners perfectly. It's heavier weight than the one it replaced. The stainless steel handle doesn't get hot and I like the design of the lid and the no-drip rim. I usually cook one or two servings and 1.5 qt is probably my most often used saucepan size. Some reviews complain about rust and discoloration. Maybe that was an older version? Stainless steel should not rust and if some foods discolor it, vinegar or Bar Keepers Friend should take care of that. One concern of mine was that Cuisinart's instructions say to not ever use it on high heat, even to boil water. What?! I don't use the highest heat setting for anything other than bringing water to a boil, but I've never had bringing water to a boil on high hurt any pan. I tried it with this pan and it was fine too. (I'm not telling anyone else to do that, but that's what I've always done and will do.) I don't do things like put cold water in a hot pan, boil pans dry, etc., but I didn't want a pan I must baby. This seems to be a great pan and a great value at $20. (It was $40 at Kohl's.) If it shows any rust or corrosion later I'll try to come back and edit this review. My other stainless steel cookware has never rusted in decades of use and I don't expect this one to do so either.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What are the most used sizes typically? Just trying to figure out which ones to buy.**
A: I bought the 3 quart as I needed that size to replace a worn out Revere Ware pot. I use this size most often. It's great for boiling potatoes as I can for at least 2 to 3 lbs in the pan. I've also used it for smaller batches of chili and spaghetti sauce. Next on my list to get are, in order, 4 qt., 2 qt., 1 1/2 qt. just putting it out there in case anyone wants to complete my wish list! ;) Seriously though it's a great pot that I will have (and use regularrly) for years to come.

**Q: How comfortable is the handle on this saucepan? Is it well balanced?**
A: The only times the handles get hot is if you put them into a hot oven. The handles otherwise are cool to the touch and comfortable. Having said that, these pans are HEAVY..I have the three quart and if it's full, it is difficult to pick up with one hand. The good thing about these pans is that they are heavy, but sometimes you have to use both hands to lift them if they are full. Yes the handles are very well balanced.

**Q: Is this pan dishwasher safe?**
A: The instructions from Cuisinart say it's dishwasher safe, and as its stainless steel I believe that to be true. Still, as I use mine for making candies and such, I prefer to wash them by hand. But that's just me. ;)

**Q: Where is this made?**
A: where is KitchenAid KFP0918CU Easy Store Food Processor, 9 Cup, Contour Silver made
