## Description

Schlage Residential BE469ZPCAM622 Camelot Electronic Touchscreen Deadbolt with Z-Wave Technology C Keyway with 12344 Latch and 10116 Strike Matte Black Finish

Review: This is the 5th Schlage electronic lock I've bought (for 3 different properties). It is generally well made and the input pad really does hide fingerprints. In this particular case though it replaces a Schlage lock that simply stopped working after 11 months. Oh well, 1 semi-bad lock out of the 4 previous ones is not bad and they otherwise are reliable, look great, etc.
Review: My experience is way better than these 1-star reviews. For me this model of schlage DOES pair up with my Ring Alarm Base Station properly. Took a few minutes to sync and was visible on the Ring APP. I also had instant abilty to lock and unlock via Alexa on my echo 8. Oh and yes I'm in Canada. One thing other reviews haven't mentioned, this could have something to do with it but a complete guess. Alexa Guard Plus from what I remember only currently works in the USA not for a Canadian Address. I did switch my home address over to a US Address which activated Alexa Guard and switched it back later. I haven't lost the functionality just checked the alexa app it's still there and logging alarm events. I never went back to use the features like activity sounds with sirens or dog barking sounds or away lighting. Not something I was interested in least not yet. MAYBE that's why alexa allows me to lock and unlock this Schlage unit?? Just something for those out there to trouble shoot if they don't have success with other suggestions. I didn't configure or use a schalge skill or another app with alexa than ring which was already connected. Much like other reviews suggest I made sure that the name of the door lock didn't conflict with other devices attached to my alexa or attached to my ring alarm base or lights or speakers or whatever. I also haven't seen anyone mention how this lock works with the Ring Alarm System / Base. I'm very happy that I can lock and unlock and see status of the lock in the ring app on the dashboard. My family painfully leaves this particular door open all the time and I'm the warden walking the halls at night locking the place up. I didn't know for SURE that i could program the lock to disarm the alarm mode once the correct keycode is entered and door unlocks. That's a good feature one less thing to worry about. Makes it easier for the cleaners and the kids coming home from school for example. If you're using the ring alarm app, once the lock is connected it synced the alarm codes over to the door lock. If there are users setup it syncs which is very cool. Saves programming and matches the alarm so there aren't two numbers to remember. I assume as you add new users it syncs to the door. I also swear the door auto-locked at one point which I'm not sure yet how I feel about that. I read somewhere it is a feature and you can disable that if I'm not crazy and it actually did auto-lock. I opened the lock and watched it like a toaster and it never auto locked again. One of the kids I haven't yet given a door code / alarm code he's too little. Only scenario I can think of is if he went outside, it auto locks he has no abilty to get back in. He's not exactly running around by himself but it could present an issue if he locks himself out. I will figure out how to disable if it really works that way or just deal with it. Something to note, once it was installed it wasn't obvious to me at least how to lock the door from the outside. I upgraded from a weiser electronic keypad that had the plastic buttons and a LOCK button. So I thought you had to key the code in to lock and unlock. Instructions didn't say otherwise least I couldn't find it. Upgrading from weiser where there was an easy one button lock function this was going to suck if we had to punch a keycode felt like a let down. I googled it and found an install video where a guy hit the schalge logo to LOCK. JACKPOT locks one button logo on the keypad. Install wasn't too bad but I did have a bit of a moment where I thought it wasn't going to work. The deadlatch (I think it's called) the part that goes into the door had the plate which rests on the side of the door and the deadbolt comes out of. I couldn't see any obvious way to remove it without prying it off and my doors all have the cylinder hole not the plate with screws. So I broke down and read the instructions no mention. I saw the QR code and watched the install video and it showed how to remove it (by prying a screwdriver into it) and put the cylider cap piece on. After rummaging through the parts plastic bag I could see it. So It wasn't totally obvious, one mention in the paper instructions could have saved me grief and I could see someone giving up and returning if they didn't take the time. One final note, the inside door latch is up when unlocked, and left to right when closed. It drives me CRAZY that our newer house with Weiser locks it's the opposite way. I'm used to the common sense of plumbing or gas if the handle is across the pipe it's shut off. I've not been able to figure out how to convert existing weiser locks to the same orientation so I might move to schalge. Maybe they have a patent or something its just a small thing that I prefer and bothers me. Overall happy with the upgrade, the quality, the install. Got some bonus features mentioned above that hadn't completely realized and was a win. I wish I could rekey the lock easy like the weiser locks do, but I've never carried a key to my house since these were installed so it might not really matter.
