Review: Great sprouting seed! - This is the best organic broccoli sprouting seed ever! I have read reviews of other sprout brands that are cheaper but don't sprout all the seeds. I have ordered Handy Pantry Organic Sprouting Seed for 5 years and have never been disappointed with quality! My seeds always sprout! I saw that someone wondered about why their seeds are not sprouting completely. I would like to share the method I use to sprout them in case it helps. I use a quart size wide mouth mason jar with a sprouting lid. I put 2 tablespoons of broccoli sprouting seeds in it and fill it with purified water (you can use tap water, but I purchased a reverse osmosis system from Kinetico so I can always have purified water for my sprouts. There are other alternatives on the market which are cheaper solutions). I let them sit on the counter all day OR overnight (about 8 hours or so). Then I pour out the water they've been soaking in and fill the jar with water again to rinse off the sprouts. I let the water drain out again. After this beginning process is complete I rinse and drain the sprouts two times a day for about 3 days. You can do this longer if you want larger sprouts. I prefer this size. Now it is important to drain your sprouts at about a 45 degree angle so the water drains out and the sprouts don't rot. At this angle they get air circulation. I also twist the jar so the seeds get distributed around the jar. After about 2-1/2 days I have about 2/3 jar of sprouts and it's time for me to remove the little seed jackets. So, I fill the sprouting jar with water again and I skim off the seed jackets with a clean spoon. I keep swirling the sprouts in the jar until the majority of the seed jackets rise to the surface so I can skim them off. I don't mind having some of them left on my sprouts. Some people continue this process until they have removed the majority of them. It's harder to take them all off while they are this small. If you want more of the seed jackets to come off, grow the seeds a little longer. After I remove the seed jackets I drain the water off one last time. I let the jar drain all day OR overnight as the case may be. Then my sprouts are ready to eat. I remove the sprouting jar top and put a regular mason cover on the jar so that the sprouts don’t dry out and put them in the refrigerator. I have broccoli sprouts every day because of the sulforaphane (the important cancer fighting property) in them. There are numerous research studies showing the nutrition and cancer fighting properties of broccoli and broccoli sprouts in particular. I have also grown broccoli sprouts as a micro-green in organic potting soil with excellent results. My preference though is to sprout them in jars, remove the hulls and then refrigerate them until I finish them and start on the next batch! They are a mild tasting seed and an excellent seed to start with if you have never sprouted before! Happy Sprouting!
Review: Great customer service. - I purchased in Sept 2021, again in Dec 2023, and again in April 2024. The last time the seeds did not germinate like they had before. After trying repeatedly to get the results I had before, I contacted Handy Pantry and they were very friendly and not defensive like many companies are. They ended up replacing the seeds and I just harvested my 2nd batch (in 6 days). These are the best of all the broccoli seeds I've used. Today's harvest had the fewest dud seeds I've had. My only concern is why was the other shipment so bad? I think everyone can always do better. Anyway, they made it right and I'll be back for more when my bag is empty. Thank you Mara N for your help.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They produce nice crops
*by S***E on August 13, 2019*

I have had successful harvests with every batch of sprouts, so far. The seeds begin to grow within the first couple of days. I use 2 tablespoons of seeds in a quart jar, cover with cool water for 6 to 8 hours, then drain, rinse with cool water, and drain again using a sprouting lid, bought from Amazon. Then I put the jar on a sprouting stand, also bought from Amazon, and place the stand inside a small tray to keep water from damaging the inside of my cupboard, and stick the whole thing under my sink in the dark. Then I rinse and drain them every 12 hours -- about 2:00 PM and 2:00 AM because I'm a night owl. When the sprouts have grown enough to fill the quart jar, I place it in a sunny spot in the house for a couple of days to green up the tiny leaves. Then I rinse out most of the hulls (my preference), and split the batch up into sandwich bags (also my preference), and put the bags in the freezer for use in smoothies. Yum! Very healthy! Sometimes I use unfrozen sprouts on sandwiches. Eaten on a sandwich, they taste a bit like tasty, fresh radishes, but be warned: if eaten alone, they taste like a very old, very hot radish. Is it worth all the trouble? I'd have to say, yes, it is. I love the taste, feel good about doing some old-style country-kitchen-labor, and enjoy the health benefits.
