Just a basic chair. *by G***O on Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2021* When the box arrived, I was delighted to see that this chair was actually manufactured by Ashley. Since Ashley is also sold at furniture stores, naturally I expected it to be just a bit better quality than the standard Walmart box of hell. It was nicely packaged and all of the loose bits were stored neatly inside the seat behind the velcroed dust shield (nice touch) but this is where my delight ended. The first step is to insert the back legs into the back chair half. One leg didn't fit as the left leg socket was 1/8" smaller than the right leg socket. Seriously, 1/8"! A trip to the belt sander in the shop reduced the end of the leg tenon so that it slipped into the chair back properly. The chair back is countersunk to recess the washers and bolt heads but the countersink diameter is smaller than washer diameter, so another trip out to the shop produced proper sized washers. First leg tightened, no problem. When I tightened the bolts for the second leg, the one that went onto the undersized socket, the bolt protruded through the back of leg and bottomed out on the chair frame with a cracking sound. They do give you shorter bolts but those are for the front legs. And so, it was back to the shop for a third time to grind off the end of the bolt. On to step #2, bolting the chair base to the back. Here we also use four 65mm long bolts to secure the assembly and once again, tightening the lower left bolt resulted in yet another cracking sound. To my amazement, they had drilled the mounting hole through a knot in the wood resulting in a weak point for assembly. The rest of the process went on with only the normal degree of frustration, dealing with poorly aligned screw holes. Felt pads for the feet or glides were not included so I added these before I flipped it over. It is a basic chair, just like in the picture but I feel that it is really worth about half of what the price is. I wonder if there are different grades of Ashley furniture that are sold to furniture stores. I know that they also have to assemble some of these Items. These fellows that do this for a living have my sympathy and respect. ### ⭐⭐⭐ OK after I fixed it *by K***J on Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2019* I purchased this chair for a seldom used guest room. The chair is sturdy and looks nice in the space but it wasn't without issues. The front legs, which were packaged in bubble wrap, had numerous chips and dings so I had refinish them. I'm sure the legs were damaged before they were packed and shipped. Problem #2, the legs and hardware are shipped tied up inside the bottom cushion and covered by a black scrim attached to the frame with Velcro. The Velcro was falling off so I had to attach the Velcro to the frame before I could reinstall the black bottom cover after the legs were in place. Not a big deal but still an indication of sloppy workmanship and lack of quality control. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not as depicted. *by A***Z on Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2017* The seating is solid. Assembly was easier than expected given previous ratings. The hardware was found inside the back support as mentioned in previous write ups. I wouldn't move this piece around given it is not top quality. However, I have not had to re-tighten screws as of yet. the fabric quality is as expected given the price and self assembly. I gave it a 3 stars because the pattern is not as depicted and not because of lighting. It is NOT as depicted. The manufacturers gave no thought to final placement of fabric and so the pattern is haphazard. They could have positioned the fabric so as to legibly depict the lettering so it reads as depicted but my guess is that would have raised the price somewhat. I would have paid more for that detail. However, returning it would be more work and the piece is okay as is.
