The contents inside the filters end up in the drinking water. I thought it was happening to just one so I switched it out. Same thing with all of them. I would not recommend using these. I bought the original Catit/Dogit filters. This does not happen with their filters. **Q: Do these filters have a white plastic base? Looking to replace filters with the model number of 43744.** A: These definitely fit the round styles of Catit Filters going back as far as when they had dark blue tops and no daisy in the middle, and no window on the side of the reservoir to check the water levels. We do not yet have the very latest model with the LEDs, but we've had every other version of that filter system over the years with our (current count of five little furry overlords) beloved kittehs. There is a smaller, square fountain, which we have not tried because five cats, but that one does require a different filter from these larger round ones. Most of the Catit Filter Bowls will have a white plastic base, though, so it's much more about the -shape- that tells you if it's gonna be a compatible filter. **Q: Why do so many people say they don’t fit!** A: Hmmmm....that makes no sense to me. I’m assuming there’s just one Catit fountain, they fit mine just perfectly. It goes under the green piece that comes out of the “top” which fits into piece on the bottom of the white bucket part. It’s simple. I don’t know why others say it doesn’t fit. **Q: Does the white part or black part face upwards and the cat it water fountain?** A: The white fibrous part should face up.
