The ring portion is uncoated stainless steel and the base is nickel-plated stainless steel, so it is highly corrosion resistant. But salt water is very aggressive on metals, and if you will dive in salt water, I would recommend you clean it in fresh water (or even better, rubbing alcohol) immediately afterwards. Although I would expect the lifespan of the product to be reduced in your application compared to not using it in salt water, I think it would still last a good long time if cleaned afterwards. **Q: How long are the threads?** A: Hi, Thank you for your interest in these D-Rings! The threads are 0.269" to the underside of the metal body. There is an unthreaded length where the gasket sits of approximately 0.065", and the threaded length under the gasket is approximately 0.020". In metric, that's 5mm threaded up to the gasket, 6.7mm total length under the head, and and approximately 1.8mm of gasket. Note, the underside of the gasket has a waffled pattern to increase friction against your camera (plus is compressible), so the numbers above don't quite add up perfect, but these were checked by digital caliper. I could really use something to tether the stick with some kind of wrist strap. This two pack seemed to be the best idea since I have two insta 360 selfie sticks. After only a couple of dives in seawater, you can see how much corrosion is occurring. I did rinse the camera rig every day in clean water, but the corrosion remains. Not sure if there is a better material grade version of this item, or if I will have to look elsewhere.
