These connectors have worked fine, I was able to carefully split the strip halfway across the copper strip cut points and had enough contact on either side that the contact points on these connectors went through the conductor points and made good contact. While the instructions say to simply go through the back of waterproof LED strips, I used an X-acto craft blade and a little careful cutting to remove the silicone bead on top instead - if I do one without removing the strip I'll update this review. For cutting the LED strip itself, I'm not sure what the best option is - I used a reasonably heavy-duty knife blade cutting into cardboard, but if I'd had a sharp guillotine-style paper cutter I might have used that instead. It's probably easiest when doing that cutting to first make a slice all the way through the silicone with a very sharp craft blade, that will probably make it easier to keep enough copper contact on both sides. Highly recommend using pliers to properly close the connector. I used these with 5-pin Sengled 9ft, 16ft and 32ft wifi multicolor light strips - which have thick waterproof silicone covering. I did not peel back or remove waterproofing. One side of the connector has 5 holes for the 22AWG wires to fit in and they provide perfect alignment for piercing, with no stripping necessary.
