A: 3/4”

**Q: Do these require mortises to fit well ? If not is there a noticeable gap between the bed rails and head/foot boards when the bed is assembled ?**
A: Yes, you will need to mortise these.  If you don't you'll it'll leave a noticeable gap.  In addition to mortising them, you'll need to have a small "trough" (for lack of a better word) for the hook to go into since it'll stick passed the hole in the metal.

**Q: Hi i need to know The Wide??**
A: Per the product description they are 3/4” wide.

**Q: What size bit is needed for the mortise?**
A: 3/4" spiral upcut carbide works perfectly
