Journey to the Center of the Earth: Mandarin Companion Graded Readers Level 2, Simplified Chinese Edition

I especially love the grammar in this
This uses a lot of 把 and a lot of 累是累,但是 structures, which are particularly chinese and usually quite tricky for english speakers to learn; though luckily, they're quite easy to read! The story is good, and I like that they made the protagonist a girl, but what I love is the context for grammar that otherwise feels too ethereal to be understood. One qualm: while this one has way better quality traditional character conversion than Great Expectations, 隻 still comes out as 只, which is just wrong. I hope their next volumes fix these conversion issues entirely.

Great technique, very easy read.
Great resource! The authors really do a great job reusing new vocabulary, so you get to see vocab in different contexts. Its great to have a story that is 70ish pages long, it is better than reading the short stories in other graded readers.I bet this book would be better for HSK 2 or 3 students. I passed the HSK 4 this past spring and found this book to be really, very simple. I had no challenge reading/comprehending this book.

buy them all, read them all...
sometimes the version of these stories are a bit silly, but...the purpose is to learn Mandarin. To that extent, this is my 7th book from Mandarin Companion and I do like the emphasis on teaching Mandarin and grammar. I recommend studying mandarin from these books over text book learning, because you can read, reread, and reread these improving your fluency with every reading.I read on airplanes, busses, airports, etc...where light is rarely optimal and I find the "light blue" numerical notations to be incredibly irritating and a very poor editing decision. Who in their right mind would use "light blue" for print in a book. But it gets worse...they also are now using "grey" (not black) but grey pinyin in the footnotes...with a small font that makes the tone marking VERY difficult to distinguish. I still recommend these books....but this is a very unfortunate editing mistake.make the font in the footnotes larger AND black AND bold if possible. If that adds a page to the book...charge me an extra quarter....it's worth it.

Journey to the center of the Earth
Another great read from Mandarin Companion. I just wish they had more book in the series. Its a great advantage to read these books in the Kindle format because of the built in dictionary functions. I love this series. I can't wait to see what they come out with next.

Great read!
Good book to review old words and also learn new words. Easy to click on the new word and see the translation and pinyin.

An excellent way to learn Chinese
And also fun to read an English language classic in a Chinese setting (and in Chinese!). Thank you to everyone who helped to write and publish this Graded Reader.I suggest also using Chinese stories (both modern and old) as a basis for writing future Graded Readers. I think we might learn more about Chinese culture by reading Chinese stories. Just a suggestion!

Don't buy this with Kindle for PC - font issues
ordered this for Kindle for PC.Kindle for PC only has a few fonts - I tried them all and none of them displayed the characterscorrectly.A lot of annoying things about Kindle for PCe.g. no page number, dictionary wasn't working well, user interface is ridiculously bad.

A good localisation!
The jump between Level 1 and 2 with Mandarin Companion is quite well-done, and I find myself enjoying it. I really like the way the story was localised, being about a document with old Hanzì instead of the original plot, among other things. It's hard to find Sinified materials like this with the rampant anti-Localisation crusades you see online nowadays, so I appreciate this a lot.

Quite good , much appreciated learning material .
One of my more liked basic chinese readers , available in traditional Chinese too , which is harder to find for these types of graded readers .

Super um Chinesisch zu üben
Eine richtig gute Büchereihe, um Chinesisch zu üben. Wie es auf den Büchern steht soll man eine bestimmte Menge Zeichen können, um das Buch gut lesen zu können. Natürlich müssen sie auch ein paar Wörter benutzen, die nicht zu den 750 zählen, aber die Wörter sind unten auf der Seite zu finden mit einer Übersetzung. Genau das, was ich gesucht habe und preismässig auch gar kein Problem!
