The strap does stay attached even when fully extended unlike some other models.Cons: The ID cap fell off almost immediately and the plastic, while sturdy, does have some give to it. Also, although it extends to accommodate a range of lengths, it doesn't lock in place and once fully extended there is only about 2 inches of slack on the strap.
