**Q: Why so much palm oil in these? Highly unethical. What exactly are the "natural flavors" ?**
A: Great questions!  Palm shortening is made from the fruit of the palm trees. It's naturally solid at room temperature, and gives our brownies and blondies their luscious texture and works as a natural preservative.  Unfortunately, the method used to harvest most palm oil is bad for the environment—but NOT the palm shortening that we use. Rule Breaker uses only RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil, which meets strict environmental, ethical and social criteria. In fact, palm uses half the land of sunflower or soybeans to make the same amount of oil, further reducing environmental impact. You can learn more here: https://www.rspo.org/certification.  To answer your question about our natural flavors, a lot of so-called "natural flavors" are anything but.  However, the ones in Rule Breaker are made from the essences of vegetables and other plants combined with a tiny amount of alcohol or vegetable glycerine.  They are also free from GMOs, artificial preservatives, top allergens (wheat and gluten, tree nuts and peanuts, soy, dairy, eggs, fish and shellfish, sesame) and propylene glycol (PG) a potentially dangerous chemical hidden in many "natural flavors." I saw an ad for these on youtube and thought it would be a nice gimmick. I quite enjoyed the presentation itself as the packaging is colorful as is the cookie itself (birthday cake flavor). It is reasonably priced for the amount of cookies/size and they taste delicious.
