It looks just like the picture, has a little bit of texture and a lovely pearlescent sheen. I used it to cover the top of a dressing table. It went on really smoothly. I did end up with a wrinkle in one corner (my mistake), but was able to peel it up and smooth it back down without affecting the adhesive. It was packaged very well in shipping.
