A: I'm not sure what you mean about turning dark, but the gems are a darker red and not orange, as some tend to be.  I like the item very much and feel it is a good quality.  I am using them for stage performance.

So... this is essentially zinc dipped in a slightly stronger alloy but if you are in this for the earrings: you will probably be disappointed. The necklace and forehead piece were stunning, but the earrings were falling apart when I received it. Also: you will need earlobe support patches. These are HEAVY. If, like me, you need gorgeous costume jewelry for one night, this is perfect. If you are looking for something that lasts: keep looking.
