I was intrigued with the fact that he had written only three book children's books himself, which he of course beautifully illustrated. This the only one of the three, I now own all three, that is still in print.It is a delightful story, appropriate for any age, and magically illustrated. I have shared it with numerous adult friends and look forward to sharing it with my grandchildren. Hopefully his second book: The Silk Princess will be re-released soon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent drawings and medieval tale but didactic tale *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2016* The illustrations were beautiful and I was happy to sort of find a medieval story for my son. Kudos to the artist for an attempt at writing his own book. My son thoroughly enjoys this book on occasion. For me the story, and environmental allegory, was a little didactic and predictable. I have spent too much time trying to figure out how to weave an environmental tale into medieval times that would have been a little more mysterious and indirect, and I have not succeeded yet. I borrowed this from a library in August to read to my grandsons and they were sad when it needed to be returned to the library so I bought it for them and our other grandkids for Christmas. It is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend to anyone with children.
