Review: Solidly built, at least mine is, does the job. - The gun itself is great, I've only used it once but seems solidly built. The rubber round the handle is very close to the feel of a real Makita device which surprised me. I did read the instruction manual and expected to have to wait some minutes for it to warm up. I felt the nozzle to determine when it was a reasonable temperature based on my experience with the Bosch GluePen, as I know it's easy to break the more flimsy glue guns if you try to force the glue through when it's not up to melting point. A wisp of vapor came from the nozzle so I assumed it was ready. The glue came out steadily, and didn't really drip at all when I eased up on the trigger. I'm very pleased with how it works. I tried the gun with both genuine Makita and a relatively high quality knock-off by Axion (no longer manufactured), both 3Ah. Both fitted well, although not quite with the smooth action that makita tools have, I think this is more to do with how the opening is angled than the actual dimensions of the receptacle. You're not going to have any problems with battery fitting if they're all like mine. Now the -ve points (and these are being picky, no reason to remove a star). The supplied sticks were 145mm long which is right for the gun, but the extra sticks suggested by desertcart to go along with it were 100mm. 100mm is too short for the gun trigger mechanism to push in, because it pushes from a point about 110mm from the business end of the glue stick, so you need to put in more than one. It would have been nice if it made it a bit clearer what sticks were supplied with it, and how many (20 with mine). It's in the picture but not in the description. 2nd point, it would have been nice if it stood up without the battery connected. I stow my batteries when not in use as it encourages me to keep them charged, and obviously the whole point of the Makita 18v system is that you swap the batteries around so this means another trip to the gun when it's cool to take the battery out and put it away. Really these are minor points and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, even if it only lasted me a year or two of regular use. Being able to use the 18v system instead of mucking about charging my Bosch GluePen makes it worthwhile, and I really can't fault the price. I can see I'm going to have to investigate the other items in the Mellif range, in particular I have my eye on the hot air gun for doing heatshrink sleeving and I think that will be my next purchase, based on the quality of this item. Well done Mellif, and for any readers, you should just buy this without thinking, it's a no-brainer at this price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it require a lot of force on the trigger and how smooth does it feed the stick and flow? how hot does the glue get, 30cm bead possible before se**
A: This gun does not require a lot of trigger force but perhaps more than a standard silicone gun. It feeds out the melted glue quite smoothly & the nozzle is far too hot to touch when the gun is at operating heat. The glue goes off quite quickly & so I would say a 30cm run is slightly ambitious but not impossible.
Hope this helps!

**Q: What is the through put in Kgs per hour please?**
A: Once hot and a fully changed 5ah battery you could easily shift 40+ sticks if you are using that much then buy the very long sticks

**Q: What is the operating temperature of this glue gun ?**
A: Dont know what temperature it works at, but its a glue gun and it melts the gluesticks perfectly. Does job it was intended to do, battery life on this is quite long for dewalt battery. Good job !

**Q: Does the xr battery for the dewalt dcd776d2t work with this?**
A: Any Dewalt XR battery will fit

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable& Uses De Walt Batteries

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fits the bill very nicely
*by M***D on 19 March 2023*

I needed a bigger gun than the small craft version than I had and felt that a cordless toll would suit my requirements better than a corded one would. As I already have a couple of DeWalt cordless drills I'm already into that battery ecosystem, this seemed like a logical choice at a reasonable price so a I got me one. The batteries just slot in, heat up time is less than 2 minutes, the long trigger makes dispensing glue a low effort affair, it's generally a joy to use and fits my needs better than the small mains version I've been using up until now. So far I simply can't fault it. The only issue I've had is when I just pulled the battery off of a drill that was working fine and popped it into the glue gun, it would run for a few seconds and shut off. I thought this was a faulty unit but using a freshly charged battery solved the problem. Just be aware that the glue gun needs a higher voltage to operate than a drill does and you'll be fine. I wish I'd bought one years ago tbh.
