Maji Sports Jute Yoga Mat, Gray, 24 x 68 x 4.5mm

The description is purposefully misleading. I do not appreciate the lack of integrity there. This mat is only 10% jute material, and additionally, the side surface comprised of the jute is be-speckled by PER material. I would have expected more jute fibers, as that was the intention of my purchase - to move away from PVC toxins, and preferably, even PER material. This does soften up the jute fibers, yet a side with pure jute material would have been nice to say the least. If you do get over these disappointing facts (which I have), you see that it is a fairly dense mat that has fair traction. The jute side is a bit rough, which is to my liking, but probably not to many others. The side with PER material is very soft, however, so no worries there. I am appreciative for the cushion and texture that this mat provides for my practice. Also, the smell is very minimal, even upon fresh opening.

For the most part, I really like this mat. My experience with yoga mats is really limited. My last one was a super thick, foam like exercise mat that was very slippery and very stretchy. Not really meant for yoga. The Maji mat is an upgrade, no doubt. It is a little slick in downward dog. I don’t know how I would ever hold the pose for an extended period of time, but a few seconds in a hot flow class was doable. “Rug burn”? Yeah-a little. Just my palms from gripping so hard. The actual texture/feel of the mat is nice though. It’s not prickly. I almost wish the green color would show through the jute a little more vibrantly. The top surface of the mat is very jute/natural looking, I.e. mostly brown. Mat is heavier than I thought it would be, but not bulky. Moving from one pose to another in class was smooth. Maybe the lack of intense stickiness will toughen me up and help me improve my form instead of relying so much on the mat...time will tell! Very nice natural mat. Good price.

I bought this yoga mat because it claimed to be "natural" and eco-friendly. I have MCS, which is a chemical sensitivity. I still cannot comfortably use this mat three months later because it is off-gassing a chemical scent. Disappointing.

This is a great mat for those who need wrist support and cushion under their hands and knees. I like this mat a lot better than thinner mats I've used before. I can easily power through a long class without feeling fatigued or sore in my wrists and ankles - this was always a huge problem with other mats I've used in the past. The color is gorgeous and vibrant.The reason I'm rating this four instead of five stars is because the surface of the mat is VERY rough at first. I actually got "rug burn" on my arms the first time I used the mat, so you may need to roll it over when leaning on your forearms for extended plank pose, etc. However the fibers do soften after a while.Just a thought - I had previously purchased this mat in red from Marshalls and the surface was not rough at all, so maybe it's just an issue with blue model. I would definitely recommend this mat for a regular practitioner who will be able to "break in" the mat fairly quickly.

This looks exactly as pictured. Nice color and good quality. My son uses this for yoga and I was concerned about the fumes that I've smelled from other yoga mats. This is perfect. It's nice because it has a more textured side for grip, as well. Having the versatility of the mat is a bonus. It also looks nice and is very comfy. There is no scent whatsoever from this mat, as expected. It's a great price and worth the few extra bucks so my son isn't breathing in or laying on nasty chemicals.

I have hard tile floors and even with this being a lightweight mat it feels very good. I had a very comfortable first go with. Where else are you going to get the Turmeric? And it's eco friendly.

I was hoping the rough texture would help with slipping but it really doesn't. I don't like that it catches and bunches when I change poses. It is a beautiful mat and seems high quality, I just don't think it's a great Vinyasa or Buti Yoga mat.

while this is structurally sound and doesn’t cause any slipping or anything, it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable in my opinion. the texture is scratchy and leaves pieces all over my clothes after and pokes into my skin, completely defeating the purpose of meditative relaxation yoga. however if you flip it over and use the bottom squishy foam(?) side it is far more pleasant, which is the only way i’ve been able to make this purchase not a total waste.

Es realmente importante que si eres principiante como yo, tengas un mat que no se deslice al hacer las asanas por que termiras frustrado y por ende con la posibilidad de no seguir la práctica. Anteriormente tenía un mat más grueso pero se movía con mucha facilidad , esté tiene 5mm pero se pega bien en piso , es cómodo para la piel y viene con muy buen largo . Vale cada peso .

If you enjoy your hands and feet slipping around while doing literally anything on the mat other than standing, then you should definitely buy this mat! 2 stars instead of 1 because it's pretty and doesn't smell gross.

I bought this yoga may over a year ago now and use it 4 times a week. I love it - it allows grip/no slipping and is the perfect thickness. It was a little overpriced (I got it at a sale price and would not have bought it at full price) but I'm happy I bought it.

Llego en una caja perfectamente empaquetado, hoy decidí usarlo para hot yoga, y es excelente, no resbala. El color del tapete corresponde a la imagen es rojo, en cuanto al olor no se percibe ninguno.

Calidad y color excelentes. Llega en tiempo y me ha servido mucho. Nada ecofriendly, que era por lo que quería comprar esta marca tras una reseña. La parte de yute es mínima y sigue siendo mayor la composición de foamy no degradable.
