Review: Good standby ink. - This is the ink I use in the Comics classes I teach. It's economical, and it is pretty much waterproof when dry so you can use water color with it. You can't do a big wash of yellow over a black area, but if you stay within the inked lines you won't get any bleeding. I've used this ink for years. It doesn't contain a lot of glue or shellac like binders so it doesn't gum up my brushes the way Higgins or other india ink can, even with the best of washing practices.
Review: excellent and cheap - I use my sumi ink in my MUJI fountain pen. I replenish my cartridge with half water and half sumi ink for easier flow. This ink is pretty thick but i love to write with it. Makes taking notes and doing homework much more satisfying.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you use it in a fountain pen?**
A: Do not use this ink in a fountain pen. This ink has pigments - think of tiny granules of pigment suspended in water. Those granules will clog a fountain pen feed over time. True fountain pen inks have no floating particles. This ink is for dip pens (no ink reservoir, just dip and write) or brush painting only.

**Q: Can this be used on smooth bristol paper? I read that sumi ink only adheres to rice paper, but I'm not sure about the validity of that claim.**
A: Well, I've used it on smooth bristol paper, as well as a number of other types of paper and had no problems at all when it comes to the ink adhering to any of them.

**Q: Can this ink withstand erasing?**
A: Light erasing, yes

**Q: Can i put this in a bingo dabber ? and use for poster boards? also if i paint over it would it seep through ?**
A: I wouldn't put it in a dabber for Bingo. It's Chinese liquid stick ink. You want something that is water soluble. Depending on the paint over ink, it might seep through. Mainly a calligraphy/drawing ink.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good standby ink.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent and cheap

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MARVELOUS FOR YOUR ART, HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH
*by P***N on June 23, 2014*

If one is to believe the manufacturer -and I strongly advise you to do so- this ink is drawing hemlock: toxic to inhale, poisonous to taste, irritant to the skin, and unlike indian ink, not waterproof nor slow to dry. On its plus side, the stuff is black as night, and flows through the pen nib like silk between your fingers, producing the thinnest hairlines or the thickest strokes desired. Buy it in small bottles, or get an inkwell and fill it regularly. Ventilate your studio while using it, and clean your pen or brush thoroughly after use, for once solidified, it cakes into lumps quite difficult to remove.
