We have an old fashioned 2 sided mattress. (This type of bed skirt is probably not for people who have those huge mattresses that look impossible to move.) It does stay in place due to how it is made. It is like a bedspread between the mattress & box springs. I did iron it (with ease) before placing it on the box springs and then my husband and I topped it off with the mattress. The simple, delicate detail of this bed skirt is beautiful!
