The only important recommendation that I would make for a first timer is start small and work your way up. Titrate the dose. I'm a woman, so I can only speak for myself...when I first started applying the cream, I was getting really sore breast, so I backed-off a little and everything got back to normal the next day. I put the cream under each knee. For me, this seems to mitigate side effects on the breast. Just an fyi, I still use progesterone cream, and they both work okay together (apply on different parts of the body). I used both blood and saliva tests before using ANY hormone treatments!
