I bought this to help camoflauge grays (I'll share the results of that later), and figured it would also tone down some redness from experimenting with hair colors. I liked the consistency of the product. It's like a paste. Not messy at all, however, I did use rubber gloves applying it. The fragrance is pleasing, not overpowering. I applied all over but really concentrated on my roots. My goal wasn't total gray coverage, just a tint. I'm tired of dying my roots with permanent dye and having that sharp line of demarcation. Also, I don't have a lot of gray, so I don't want to keep using permanent dye if it's not necessary. I let this stay on for a little longer than 10 mins. The tube stays there's no need for conditioner, but I have curly hair. I NEED conditioner. So I applied my conditioner after rinsing. The results- it did darken my hair and removed some of the redness. It didn't tint my grays as much as I hoped. But it did tone down the stark whiteness and made the line of demarcation less noticeable than before. Maybe with more applications they'll tone down even more. I noticed my hair felt good and looked shiny. I didn't notice much dark color rub off on my towel, so that's a plus. Also, I have low porosity hair, so it's more difficult for my hair to accept color, but this product worked for my hair just as described. The only thing I'm hoping for is a cumulative effect on my grays with more usage.
